Voronezh State Medical University is one of the oldest educational institutions in the country Russia. The history of this university goes back to 1802, the date of the Dept University which is 1918 moved to Voronezh. In the month of December 1930, the medical faculty of the Voronezh University became an independent medical institute that consists of the two faculties that were the faculty of general medicine and the faculty of health. In the year 1933, the paediatric faculty was introduced, in the year 1957, the faculty of stomatology (dentistry) was introduced and in the year 1983 the faculty of continuing education for medical specialists was introduced and practicing physicians were also added at that time. The Medical degrees that are received by students from VSMA is recognized worldwide.
In the year 1992, the international faculty of pre-university training and faculty of the medical education were introduced in this university. As a recognition of the university’s academic excellence and it is also being one of the largest scientific-educational & medical diagnostic centers in Russia, the ministry of education has awarded the academy status to this university. In the same year, the faculty of advance nursing was also established in this university. The university has an intercollegiate status in the previous years as the pharmaceutical department has also been developed its own academic curriculum and became an independent faculty since the year 2002. During the time of its existence of this university, the Faculty prepared approximately more than 40,000 doctors and among them there are 1200 foreign medical specialists that are from different countries.
The teaching of this university is provided by the 345 faculty members and from among those there are approximately 46 Doctors of the Medical Science, 190 of Ph.D.’s in Medicine, 40 Professors and 57 Associate Professors at this university. The Voronezh State Medical University maintains a contractual relationship with a great number of the European higher educational institutions, such as Johannes Gutenberg University in Mainz Luther University of Halle- Wittenberg (Germany) Chukurova University, Adana (Turkey), the Medical Faculty of Humboldt University/ Charities University Medicine of Berlin (Germany), etc.
The clinical base of the Voronezh State Medical University consists of approximately of 29 Affiliated hospitals and also a network of polyclinics, where all the medical students gain exposure and practical skills. Annually the members of the 39-clinic department of this university carry out approximately above 1,30,000 consultations that even perform approximately more than 12,000 surgeries that are introduced to practice the 120 - 150 treatment methods, 90 - 110 new search methods, and over 30 preventive methods.
The library of this university has over more than 5,00,000 copies of books. Each student at this university accounts for over approximately 180 copies of tuition literature annually.

In the year of foundation — 1994 of this university. All the International students are offered training in the following programs that are General Medicine, Pediatrics, Dentistry and Pharmacy. The Voronezh State Medical University has educated 1200 specialists that are from the 28 countries of the World. This includes approximately 875 foreign students that earn their MD qualification from this university. Among them there are approximately 143 students that graduating from the Academy’s Preparatory Department; 614 students were awarded the MD Diplomas and 206 were qualified as Pharmacists from this university. There are approximately 84 residency course graduates and 14 postgraduate students that defend their Ph.D. theses. There are Foreign students that are taught in the English Language since the year 2002 onwards.

There are a variety of teaching methods that are adopted during the studies of the students that are:-
The old or traditional forms of teachings:-The practical classes, lectures seminars, and hospital work, etc are used as the teaching method.
The Modern teaching methods and techniques:-The techniques like Computer and internet classes that are problems based teaching, Video-based teaching, education software, etc are used to teach the student at this university.
All the international students that come from various countries at this university are benefitted from studying in small groups of 10-12 students. All the students of this university are allocated as a group tutor. This a person that is a group tutor who follows the students’ academic progress and assists in the case of any personal problem of the person arranges a regular meeting throughout the year to understand and solve the problems of all the students of the group.
The English speaking students may study in a general medicine program with English as the language of instruction throughout all the semesters.
